Why Fall Is the Right Time to Reset Your Body in Colorado Springs

Summer in Colorado Springs is active. From hiking the trails, biking, long days on your feet, travel, kids home from school, everything happening at once, to starting it back up again in just a couple short months. By the time September arrives, most people’s bodies are carrying significantly more accumulated stress than they began the summer with. Fall is when that catches up with you – and when addressing it actually matters, before the cold and indoor season sets in and the patterns that built over summer become the patterns you carry all winter long.

What Changes occur during the turn of the seasons?

The transition from summer to fall isn’t just a couple pages of the calendar turning, it produces real physiological shifts that affect pain patterns. You know how your joints begin to hurt as the weather changes? Some people have joint sensitivity as the barometric pressure changes. Temperatures and muscular tension work hand in hand with each other. When temperatures drop, muscles lose some of their pliability they have during the warmer seasons. Circulation to the extremities reduces as the body prioritizes core temperature. Muscle tissue that was looser in the summer becomes denser and more reactive to strain as fall progresses.

Activity Pattern Changes

Colorado’s fall weather brings significant barometric pressure changes as weather systems move through. For migraine sufferers, this is one of the most reliable seasonal triggers. The shift from summer’s relatively stable high-pressure patterns to fall’s variable weather is a common driver of increased headache frequency in September and October.

Why September specifically is the right month

September is the sweet spot between the accumulated strain of summer and the full onset of Colorado’s winter. Addressing what built up during the active season in September means that we are in the perfect timeframe for a tandem massage!

September is also one of three months when tandem massage are available at Inspire Movements Massage Therapy. In March, June, and September on Wednesdays and Thursdays only, Patrick Moore and myself simultaneously working on you. Tandem massages are A 2-hour session with a closing time on the red light machine where we work simultaneously on you. We have found that this is the most efficient way to address a full summer’s worth of accumulated tension in a single session. It’s the seasonal reset the tandem format is built for. If you’ve been thinking about trying tandem massage, September is the window. The next availability after this month is March and they are by request only.

Often times, we need a full body reset in a 2-hour massage that independently, I am not able to achieve with my hands and feet alone. This is where Tandems come in. We’re able to get the most accomplished in the same amount of time. You don’t need this thorough of a reset all the time, think of it like a dental appointment. You just need a cleaning scheduled a couple times a year. It is the same here.
