I was talking with a Colorado Native, and she said “Nothing this harsh since ’93.” With the snow staying on the ground for so much longer, people have been finding it increasingly difficult to survive this winter season… So, I’d love to share some of the tips and tricks I’ve used to endure the cold, and hopefully help you out along the way.

1) An early rising sun can be a great thing… if you let it!

Since time changed, it has been easier to wake up with the sun streaming into my window each morning. It helps me adjust and adapt to the time changes easier when I don’t have the option to sleep in.

2) Go outside.

When bundled up well enough, going for a morning run can be quite pleasant. Taking in the scenery of the gorgeous snowy mountains and neighbors’ lawns can be the prompt you need for the best day.

3) Fuzzy sock season at its finest…

Who doesn’t enjoy cozy socks!? You have been missing out on so much if you haven’t started on this journey. Some say this is the path to enlightenment.

4) Hydration.

Hydration doesn’t have to be boring… Make your water more fun and festive with some lemon or honey! Better yet, take your hydration game all the way into your skincare routines. That cold air likes to be a vacuum for our poor pores.

5) Light.

Yes, the sunshine is always incredible. With winter here, our sun exposure is limited during this season. Because of this lack of sun exposure, have you ever considered red light treatment?

6) Indulging in baths.

It’s never too cold to indulge in a warm bubble bath with essential oils or Epsom salts

7) Breathing.

Take a deep breather: Winter months frequently mean prepping for holiday stress and in-laws. You need to take some time for yourself… even if it is just five minutes. That time could be for grounding out that frizzle in your hair. Ever tried grounding yourself underneath weighted blankets?

Works wonders for overnight care or even just a quick reset from stress.

8) Companionship.

Having company with close friends sharing a kettle of hot cocoa brewed over a stove-top can really bring a song to the soul.

9) Indulge in your passions at home.

Do you really want to leave your home during winter? … I’d much rather make my meals at home than go downtown for dinner. More so, every winter I take my garden indoors because it’s so much easier to care for and enjoy. Also, hosting in your own home makes these winters so much easier.
