At Inspire Movements Massage Therapy, we don’t just chase relaxation, we focus on therapeutic massage in Colorado Springs. We drive results tailored to each individual person’s needs. One of those people is Jasmine! Jasmine wrote a testimonial for us about all the progress she has made here. When Jasmine first came to our Briargate massage clinic off of N Academy Blvd and Kelly Johnson Blvd in Briargate, Colorado Springs, she was dealing with a work-related injury that had taken her out of working full time. Like many of our current clients, busy professionals, healthcare providers, desk workers, and active moms, Jasmine was ready for something that actually worked for her and with her. Not just a temporary fix. She needed to get back in action. Through a customized treatment plan for her, we included Ashiatsu Massage, Cupping Therapy, and movement-based bodywork in our tandem massage sessions. A tandem massage is when 2 Licensed Massage Therapists work on someone at the same time. We worked together with Jasmine to create a long-lasting change in her daily function and pain levels. Her story reflects what we see time and time again here at Inspire Movements Massage Therapy. When pain levels are addressed with purpose, real progress can happen! 💪
Q1: What initially brought you to Inspire Movements Massage Therapy? (What symptoms or pain were you experiencing? How long had it been going on?)
Originally, what brought me to Inspire Movements Massage Therapy was deep, intense levels of pain that were branching far around my body. The feeling of hopelessness was setting in around that time, wondering if my pain was just too far gone to fix. I have suffered from a back injury from when I was very young and it slowly but surely started to spread throughout my body when one area was at its maximum pain and tension level for too long it would start going to the next. This is a challenging thing to face that made me feel very misunderstood and helpless for a long time in my life. This impacts much of my body, including my sciatic nerve and I know how hard sciatic nerve pain treatment can be to find! My first appointment at Inspire Movements made me truly feel like I had an entirely new body. I still remember explaining my pain to Jessica and she immediately touched the core spot of my injury on her first try, from just visually seeing where the tension was and hearing my words on the situation. Similar to Patrick as well. They both seem to know exactly where the problems collide and got to work right away. It has all been uphill from there. This is also a great place to go near Briargate for headache and migraine massage therapy! I do get some pretty intense migraines, as well and I feel massage therapy is helpful. I love that the ambiance feels very low lit, calming and the aromatherapy is even more beneficial for migraines!
Q2: Had you tried other types of treatments or therapies before? What made this different?
I had tried traditional massage therapy before along with many different things that I view as “self-care”, such as ice, heat, baths (SO many baths), creams, stretching, yoga, working out, rest, etc., etc. It is hard to try to tackle some of these more major issues on your own without any help and so the self-care did and still does feel necessary, but the intensity level of that need, or the direness of it, feels less severe once being able to get your body a very in depth treatment to help bring some of your issues back down to a manageable baseline instead of feeling like you are scrambling to keep things under control.
Q3: What specific therapies did you experience with Jessica and Patrick (Ashiatsu, cupping, red light, etc.), and what surprised you the most?
I have tried both cupping therapy and Ashiatsu massage and both surprised me a lot, actually! I believe, in my head, both sounded a little scary or uncomfortable but it wasn’t like that at all! I think my preconceived notions were just misunderstanding and misinformation. Ashiatsu is much more gentle than I expected, while still getting into those deep tissues. If you’re looking for Ashiatsu massage in Colorado Springs, this is the place to go. Cupping I thought would be more uncomfortable, I thought that I would really feel the suction and tension, but it wasn’t like that at all. Jessica explained to me people often times forget the cups are even there. I feel a sensation from it, but once they are in place I can hardly notice them afterwards. Cupping therapy for low back pain relief was not something I originally knew I needed, but I’m so glad that I tried it! So much tension relieved and I even feel it helped me with my low back spinal compression!
Q4: What changes or improvements have you seen in your pain levels, movement, or daily life since starting treatment?
The major changes that I have felt in my pain levels, movements and daily life go back to what I was saying about feeling like I was in a whole new body after. Once my body feels like it is at more of a “baseline” it is so much easier to navigate self-treatment and stay on top of my pain rather than trying to catch up with it. After tandem sessions with both Jessica and Patrick, it feels like my muscles are working together more cohesively and everything just feels a little more fluid and well structured. The spots that are usually tight are more loose and able to function with the more broad part of my body in a more natural way, I will occasionally find myself feeling “normal” afterwards. Which makes daily life more manageable and allows me to feel like I can tackle more of life’s challenges.
Q5: How often do you come in now and why do you keep coming back?
I try to keep my massage appointments about 2 weeks apart. I do this to maintain my benefits because as I’ve explained, it is easy to lose grip on the pain and instead of pain management your pain is managing you. I think it is critical (especially if you have an injury of any kind) to stay consistent with your body care. I have found that to be the solution to most things in life, actually!
Q6: What would you say to someone who is skeptical or hasn’t heard of Ashiatsu or cupping therapy before?
I am the type of person who likes to try new things, so for me it is the easy choice to just say “hey, why not?”, but I do know that not everyone feels that way! I would say that if you are dealing with chronic pain or pain and tension that nothing else seems to reach, then what’s the harm? It is tremendously important to find what works for your body and it is just one of those things where you won’t know unless you try. I understand how hard it is to get a massage and know whether or not you can have faith that it will go well for the first time, but Jessica and Patrick both do an amazing job all around in making sure you are completely comfortable and communicating and understanding your needs.
Q7: Anything else you want to share about your experience?
My final thoughts for anyone deciding whether or not this is for you is most importantly to listen to your body, if it is asking for something, listen! It took me a long time to even understand that massage therapy was what my body was pining for, but once I took that step I never looked back. Massage therapy is something that I think is crucial for people with chronic, severe levels of pain but also even for individuals who have general tension and tightness! It’s a form of medicine, healing and therapeutic. If you are looking for therapeutic massage in Briargate near Chapel Hills Mall or Colorado Springs functional recovery massage near N Academy Blvd I believe that Inspire Movements Massage Therapy is the way to go. This is also a great place for pain relief massage for busy moms and healthcare workers! Like I said earlier, you’ll never know ‘til you try.
